Alopecia Areata: What it is not
There are many, many different causes and types of hair loss. But Alopecia Areata is a distinct type of hair loss caused by autoimmunity: the immune system going haywire and mistakenly attacking the hair the same way it would harmful invaders like environmental toxins, viruses and bacteria.
The hair loss pattern in Alopecia Areata is distinctly marked by random patches anywhere on the head.
Alopecia Areata is NOT a condition of hair loss that is ‘directly’ or ‘only’ caused by:
– single nutrient deficiency
– fungal or other infection
– ‘wrong’ kind of shampoo or styling products
– pulling of the hair
– a dermatological issue (gasp!)
Although poor diet and nutrition, stress and other factors affect the health of your immune system, Alopecia Areata is not caused by these factors alone. There are also NO shampoos, magic hair growth potions, and hair products that can “cure”Alopecia Areata.
In order to ‘fix’ Alopecia Areata, start from your immune system. Remember, there is nothing wrong with your hair.
