Project End Alopecia (Gluten-Free): Day 10
June 5, 2018
So I’ve been MIA for Day 8 and Day 9 blog entries, because life in our fam-ville got a little busy the last few days. But we’re still here, still going strong with the gluten-free + topical ginger and essential oils treatment regimen. And I can’t believe it’s already Day 10 of our journey.
Meals & snacks
Food wise there hasn’t been a great deal of change. Breakfast is always the usual suspects – cereal with avocado and nuts, oatmeal with fruit, or gluten-free banana + choc chip pancakes, served with 1/2 cup of organic cow milk.
For lunch, I made rice cooked in homemade chicken + anchovies + sweet corn broth, with a side of stir-fry beet, carrot, chayote squash, sweet corn kernels, onion, and gluten-free canned mixed beans (Hot Tip: You want to make sure that your canned beans are labeled gluten-free just to be safe. Although beans do not naturally contain gluten, they may be cross-contaminated during processing).
Today she had the usual snack of fruit and OKA cheese, and the same thing for dinner plus a free-range egg for protein.
Soybeans + vegetables whole food supplement beverage
I wrote in detail about how soybeans can potentially improve the condition of alopecia in an earlier post. I also shared my most favourite and easiest way of adding whole soybeans (as well as a ton of other vegetables) to our daily diet.
My new SOYGREEN order finally arrived after we missed the delivery over the weekend. So Little Claire can start her daily SOYGREEN supplemental beverage today. It’s perfect for days when the little ones are not having their best appetite, or when the daily grind of life overtakes and we just don’t have the time to prepare perfectly balanced meals.
Each packet contains 8 grams of protein, 5 grams of fibre, and an abundance of phytochemicals from plant foods. You just need to stir the packet content into a glass of water and drink it up. Each day we are seeing more and more encouraging signs of hair regrowth, so much so that we’re almost excited to wake up and see how her hair is doing.
The right parietal ridge area, which is one of the most visible patches now, is showing promising signs of new growth. So is the occipital bone area and the nape area. The soy beverage with an extra 8 grams of highly absorbable plant-based protein daily will be beneficial in our hair growth journey, in addition to the high amount of vegetable phytochemicals and fibre which play a role in clearing the stomach for healthier gut.
Be sure to check back for our updates on this journey. We’re excited and I hope this can inspire anyone reading this who may be in the same boat!
