Why plant-based meat products are not healthy

The point of eating a plant-based diet is the phytonutrients and antioxidants that wholesome plant foods contain. Plant-based meat products in the market are highly processed products.

They go through so much processing to achieve the taste, texture and cooking behaviours that mimic those of real meat. Even their ingredients are highly processed products. They contain oil and a lot of additives to make them taste and feel the way they do.

These processed ingredients do not nourish your immune system. Additives especially oils even worsen inflammation and are not helpful toward your autoimmune recovery.

A plant based diet is healthier for us, but remember, we want to eat foods in their wholesome forms as much as possible. Processed foods, whether they are vegan, gluten free, dairy free, or organic, are still processed foods.

For the purpose of eating healthier and achieving optimal health, opt for wholesome plant foods and not processed plant-based meat alternatives.
